Q: what is the best part of girls 🥺

A: there are so many things to choose from but if i had to pick one, I guess how soft they are? soft gud. they smell nice too.

Q: Did you ever have a website before this?

A: yeah! my first website was on gURLpages in like 1997? 1998 maybe? then i had one on geocities, then angelfire, then tripod, then got hosted by a friend at a domain, then I had a .ph domain that was just a blog really during my one year of college. (I don’t even remember what the domain was!)

When I dropped out of college, I was already so deep into social networking websites that I wasn’t really bothering with personal websites during that time. I finally decided to get back into it thanks to a close friend who encouraged me a lot!

Q: What does your website smell like?

A: peaches! and marshmallows! warm sugar, cherry blossoms, lilac flowers, lotuses, water lilies, and cucumber. so like a sweet, floral, wet-but-vaguely-fruity smell.

Q: What is your bedtime routine like?

A: usually, i will try to wind down with some leisurely activities, like either reading a VN/playing a short game of something that’s not too emotionally or mentally engaging (stuff like sudoku is good for this) until it’s the designated bedtime (usually around 10pm during the week, and sometime between 11pm-midnight on the weekends).

then I will shut off my computer, brush & braid my hair for bed, and then go do my usual hygiene stuff: wash my face, apply my rosacea cream, eye cream, and nighttime moisturizer, brush my teeth & floss, and apply lip balm. then I’ll check my cpap to see if I need to refill its humidifer, and if it needs it I’ll do that.

then i plug in my phone, put on my cpap, and lay down for the night! usually my partner and i will chat for awhile before we fall asleep, which he’ll usually do before me. I usually read a few pages of a novel until my eyelids are heavy, then i fall asleep!

Q: What do you think of vocal synthetisers like Vocaloid, UTAU, Synth-V, etc.? Do you have any favourites?

A: I think they’re pretty neat, and I love what people have done with them. I’m not as into vocaloid songs as some, but I always liked ryo from supercell’s works, and DECO*27.

As far as favorite vocal synths, I really like IA, Tone Rion, Yumemi Nemu, Miku, Kaai Yuki, Kasane Teto, and Yokune Ruko. Honorable mentions: Yuzuki Yukari, Aoki Lapis, Xin Hua, Stardust, Momone Momo (I like their design or how they sound, but I don’t know any songs well enough to fully call myself a fan).

Q: Have you ever experienced anything that could be described as paranormal?

A: No, not even a little bit.

Q: Do you have a dog?

A: Not currently. We had a dog since 2012, but she sadly passed on October 1, 2023. I’d like to get another dog, but we are currently trying to decide where we’d ultimately like to settle long-term, and I don’t want to put a dog through a move, so we’ll wait for now.

Q: How did you got into idols?

A: so, in 2003, I was a junior in high school, and I was on livejournal (a blogging platform with social features), and one of the communities I followed on livejournal was one that would post mp3s of jpop music for you to sample to try and promote their favorite artists, etc., basically a music curation blog. one fateful summer day between my junior & senior years of high school, someone posted the Minimoni. Hinamatsuri single in its entirety and I downloaded it thinking the cover looked cute.

At this time in my life, I was very depressed and umedicated, and most of the music I was listening to was moody, emotional rock music, so this particular single was especially out of character for me, but I love trying new things, and I love cute things even more, so I downloaded and listened to it.

‘Hinamatsuri’ was a fun song, but what really, REALLY sold me was the B-side (other A-side? I always thought this was a regular single but the hello!pro wiki has it listed as a double A-side so…?), ‘Mini. Strawberry Pie’. This song changed my life. I know that sounds fantastical and dramatic, and at the time, it was a small change, but looking back, it truly did change my life.

Because of Minimoni., I got into the agency that produced them (Hello! Project), and learned everything I could about them - the hyperfixation had truly taken me. Something about the music that was being made by Hello!Pro idols at that time was really magical and entrancing to me. It was so…happy? Which was not something I had in my life at all at that time. It made me feel alive, listening to it. It reminded me of a simpler time, when I was much smaller, and things felt happier.

At this point in my life, basically everything I was interested in was ridiculed and made to seem stupid by my family, and I was also made fun of for it. Hello! Project became my secret hyperfixation, something I wouldn’t let my family rob the joy from for me, that I protected at all costs and never told them about.

So for me, getting into idols made me want to live again, I know that’s not really what you asked about, but it was the result of what you asked about so…even now, all these years later, finding idols that I enjoy, listening to their goofy and happy music…it reminds me that life doesn’t have to be so dark and depressing, that we can always laugh, goof off, and act silly, and things can and will get better as long as we stay positive and keep trying. Idols are hope embodied into musical form for me, so they’re really important to me.

Q: how many plushies should there be in every household?

A: at least 10 per person occupying the house, including pets. so, for example, for me, my partner, and our dog, thirty plushies at the bare minimum. more if you wish to thrive, but ten is the absolute bare minimum for survival.

Q: What is your favourite recipe?

A: other than the one I have for tiramisu (which you probably predicted I would answer with and it is my favorite recipe), my favorite is probably something easy and delicious, like crepes!

I do love cooking, but I am also lazy and don’t like having to do a huge amount of prep or dirty a ton of dishes to make something yummy. at the end of the day, the simpler, the better.

A: ah, yeah I saw the link for the tutorial on hellomei’s contact page a while back and thought about it, but with the way retrospring instances have been going, I want to kind of move away from websites like that (but I still love getting random questions and answering them hehe). I’ve watched three or four instances now implode from people…being people and I’m over it lol.

Q: is the earth flat like a pancake or flat like a crepe?

A: hmm, I think it’s probably more like a souffle pancake, if it were flat at all, since these are much taller and more rounded. honestly, if we compare the earth to sweets, it’s probably the most like a perfectly spherical scoop of ice cream. but working within the pancake/crepe binary, it’s like an extremely thicc pancake.
