in honor of reaching the 1000 answer milestone on my retrospring before its shutdown next year, I will now be answering all of the retrospring default questions! Prepare yourself to know entirely too much useless information about me!!

Are you afraid of going outside at night?
I am a woman, so yes.
Are you afraid of the dark?
not as much anymore, but I used to be terrified of the dark.
Are you religious?
I was raised southern baptist but I think organized religion, especially judeo-christian belief systems, are poison that is holding the human race back and we should eliminate it. but if you’re religious and you like being religious, then I’m happy for you. I just don’t think it’s good for humanity.
Can you cook?
yes and I do when I feel well enough to!
Can you dance?
anyone can dance if they’re not a coward. (not well, no)
Can you draw?
I’d call it more like doodling, but yeah I draw some.
Can you play any sports?
I used to really enjoy badminton in PE, but as a rule I don’t really enjoy sports.
Can you play baseball?
I’ve played it before but I’m not very good.
Can you play the guitar?
I can form some chords, but my hands are very small which make playing difficult (a standard guitar neck is too thick for me to comfortably form chords).
Can you play the piano?
Not even a tiny bit. I can figure out melodies I guess? but playing actual songs? no.
Can you play the saxophone?
I’ve never tried it.
Can you play the trumpet?
I started out playing trumpet in band, even though I wanted to play oboe. My mom played trumpet in school band, so that’s what I had to start with. But I haven’t played in years and I don’t like the instrument.
Can you ski?
Skiing is so stupid dangerous, you couldn’t pay me money to ski.
Can you speak a foreign language?
ja, ich kann etwas Deutsch sprechen. ちょっと日本語ができる～！
Can you swim?
yeah, I used to swim a ton but I haven’t in years.
Can you yodel?
is this a thing people struggle with? yeah I can yodel.
Do you have a nickname?
most people call me by my full first name (which I am not a super fan of), so I usually go by nicknames online. Only my partner really calls me by any nicknames irl.
Do you have any siblings?
I have a brother and a sister, both younger than me.
Do you have any pets?
Not currently, but I had a baby dog for 11 years. She passed away last October (2023).
Do you like muffins?
yeah, muffins are tasty! lemon poppyseed are my fave.
Do you like social networks?
as a rule, not particularly, but I’ve had good experiences with the fediverse and alternative sns.
Do you like the place where you live?
No. I’d love to move overseas.
Do you like to travel?
I absolutely loathe flying and driving, so I’m gonna go with no. If I could travel entirely by train I’d probably enjoy it a lot more.
Do you like to sing out loud when no one else is around?
I am always singing when I’m alone.
Do you prefer to browse the internet on your phone, computer, or another device?
computer is what I’ve used the longest, so it’s the most comfortable imo. my phone’s touchscreen likes to go insane and randomly register a bunch of clicks/taps all at once and that makes using my phone an infuriating experience. (hey apple: fix your dogshit touchscreens please, your products are too expensive to be getting away with this).
Do you prefer to live in a house or a flat?
I hate stairs, but I much prefer the privacy of a house to an apartment (I assume that is what is meant by flat).
Do you prefer to take baths or showers?
Baths are very relaxing but I still feel cleaner after a shower…I guess a shower followed by a long bath/soak would be ideal.
Do you prefer to watch movies or read books?
I honestly have had trouble getting into any new books lately, and I struggle with paying attention to movies, so I prefer reading books.
Do you recycle?
I live in a country that is actively hostile to recycling so due to the extra effort involved, I do not. If it was easier for me to recycle I would do it. I try to reduce & reuse to compensate for this.
Do you think that late is better than never?
Yes.
Do you want more friends?
I like meeting new people/making new friends, but I’m also fine with the amount of friends I have currently.
Do you want more money?
As long as I am forced to exist under capitalism I will always want more money bc more money means more freedom under this system.
Do you want more things than you need?
If I had them I’d give them away, so no, I don’t have a desire to have more than I need. Enough would be great.
Do you want old times back?
There are some things that I am nostalgic for (old friends I’ve lost touch with, for example), but as a rule I would rather focus on the present & future than to live in the past. Also most of my old experiences are bad, so no, I’m good with staying in the right now.
Do you want to know more about history?
I know enough to be severely disappointed in humanity, but I’m not opposed to knowing more. We cannot learn from our mistakes if we are unaware of them.
Do you want to know more about new inventions?
Unless they’re widely available and are going to benefit people directly, then I’m good. Let the billionaires waste their time on this earth with their silly inventions.
Do you want to know more about your future?
Kind of? I mean, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious, but like…I worry that knowing my future would not be good for my mental health, so I’ll say no, with the understanding that I am curious.

No, I’m not concerned with their lives.

Maybe? Idk I feel like I’m an open book but people are always saying they don’t know much about me? or don’t feel close to me? idk man, people are confusing, and I have issues opening up.

my partner bought us an afternoon of horseback riding for valentine’s day in 2014. it was awesome, highly recommend it.

What do you think about cats?
I worry about toxoplasmosis, and they can kind of be jerks sometimes, but I think most cats are very sweet and I like how soft and fluffy they are ^w^
What do you think about coyotes?
Coyotes are tricksters in Native American folklore; other than that all I really know about coyotes is about them hurting/killing livestock. I’d be scared if I saw one irl. But we should maybe stop infringing on their territory; they’d probably leave livestock alone if they still had their natural habitat.
What do you think about dogs?
12/10 sweeties, but people would do well to train their dogs more.
What do you think about dragons?
lizards are cool, and lizards of that size seem terrifying. I think the Chinese lung dragons look really neat, but the idea of a dragon being real seems pretty scary. Especially if they can actually breathe fire.

seems like a not very good way to get your facts; they don’t source anything. a waste of time.

they intimidate me, as all reptiles do. their movements are unpredictable, so they make me nervous.

they’re cute as hecc and every time i think about that video where a raccoon is washing his cotton candy I cry a little.

we sure do live in one. in all seriousness I think society is really imbalanced and we should restructure it to be more egalitarian.
What do you think about surveillance?
I mean, I get why governments feel it is necessary, but I don’t think the crime prevented bc of it is necessarily worth the invasion of privacy. it feels gross to know my every move online is being recorded. I don’t like it.
What do you think about the Internet?
I miss when you had to know how to use a computer to be able to access the internet. Dumbing it down for the average user has made the internet worse. I used to be able to find information on it, now it’s all bloated with fucking ads. I hate this. I want web 1.0 back.

Hamilton’s Anita Blake series? even though I stopped reading around Incubus Dreams because the smut had become the main focus of the books and I wasn’t as interested in that so much as the world she’d built up until this point. Honestly, if I’m being real, the series peaked at Obsidian Butterfly and it’s been downhill ever since imo.

that is so difficult wthecc…idk I’m really liking lost letters lately; their aesthetic is so good and the type of content they have on their website gave me a lot of ideas for what I want to do with this website, so I really admire & look up to them/their work.
What is your first memory?
I’m like…months old maybe? I’m on my back, bundled up in snow gear, and it’s snowing outside. My parents are sliding me across the parking lot to each other and I am giggling so hard I feel like I’m gonna pee my pants. It makes me dizzy, but I don’t mind because I’m having the most fun. There is not an ounce of tension in my body, I just feel free.
What kind of animals do you have?
none right now, but I had a dog until last year. she died.
What languages do you know?
enough to carry a conversation in? English, Japanese, and German.
What was the best day of your life like?
I don’t remember how most of it went, I think I had a bad day up until this point, but my (at the time) boyfriend that I lived with asked me to walk with him to the beach near our house. It was close to Christmastime and his mom was visiting us and it was really stressing me out, not to mention the tension of having to go to family gatherings, and I was really not feeling very well. It was late afternoon, the golden hour, and it was low tide, so the water had receded and the beach was muddy. The sky was a hazy shade of winter, and the leaves and grass were all brown and dead. I remember thinking about how beautiful it was, and walking with him quietly hand-in-hand, feeling like I was gonna cry. When we arrived at the beach, he took my hand and said some words to me, and as he was talking, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

because how often do you really need to print smth out? plenty of time for smth to go wrong from last time you used it. this is what libraries are for smh

like nopales? I’d try it. if I had to like bite into one raw, like with the spines on still, then probably not.

best player on a horrible team; I cannot handle the pressure of knowing I am a massive let-down to my teammates. also if I’m the best, I can teach others to be better and possibly turn the team into a good one!
Would you rather live in a city or in the countryside?
I love how walkable and accessible cities are, and for that reason alone I’d say city. Even though at heart I long for the countryside. Assuming I could have access to everything I needed, countryside tbh. but realistically? city.
Would you rather lose an arm or a leg?
leg. I use my hands for basically everything I enjoy and if I lost one of them I’d really struggle with that. I’ve already lost a lot of control over my hands due to disease progression and have really struggled with that mentally, so I know if I lost a hand entirely I’d be devastated for a while.
